Poppy Vase No.1

A one-of-a-kind vase, hand-built in white clay and adorned with individually sculpted poppies. Inspired by the poppy fields encountered during a journey through Normandy, the piece brings the vivid character of a wildflower into a contemporary sculptural form.

Red blooms of varying sizes unfold around the entire body, creating a playful rhythm across the ivory surface. Yellow centres punctuate the composition, giving each flower its own presence. The simplicity of the floral motif meets the generous volume of the vase in a balance of bold colour and delicate detail.

A wide opening accommodates generous bouquets, while the decorated silhouette holds its presence when displayed alone. Coloured slips and a clear gloss glaze highlight the relief of the petals, preserving the subtle asymmetries and variations of the handmade surface.
